With over 100,000 apps in the iTunes store, it’s great to know that we’ve built something that people find pretty useful. In particular, GreyStripe recently released an interesting report that shows the importance of the iPhone to our key demographic – moms and “Chief Household Officers”.
The free BigOven iPhone App crossed over 2 million downloads in its first year of release, and has gotten some nice recognition in the blogosphere:
- The BigOven Recipe Search iPhone App made iLounge.com’s 100 Essential Apps List in their iLounge.com 2010 iPhone Buyer’s Guide. It was listed as one of the best apps in the Food and Edutainment category.
- Bonafide Reviews recommended BigOven in their list of iPhone Apps for New Moms
- AppShouter gave BigOven a great review on their “App a Day” roundup in mid-October 2009.
- … and more
On October 26th, Greystripe, a mobile brand advertising network, released their quarterly Mobile Advertising Insights report Report, which described some Details about the iPhone Mom, which confirm some of our thinking about the importance of this “Chief Household Officer” market, and its convergence (at the upper ends of the market) with the iPhone:
- 60% of iPhone moms use their iPhone to locate the nearest/best store around them
- 42% of iPhone moms use their iPhone to keep track of shopping lists
- 39% of iPhone moms use it for comparison shopping
- 19% use it for downloading coupons
- 51% of iPhone moms use it in the grocery store
- 40% use it as a grocery shopping list tool
- 23% use it as a recipe resource at the grocery store
- 59% of iPhone moms let their children use their iPhone
We think the extremely handy BigOven iPhone app will continue to grow into a useful resource for moms and “Chief Household Officers” to use while making cooking, nutrition, meal-planning and grocery shopping decisions.
